Automotive Protection

Mechanical protection

Particularly in the engine compartment, cable assemblies are exposed to a high degree of mechanical stress. With a combination of Coroplast MPX-series adhesive tapes and other abrasion-resistant carrier materials, abrasion classes D–G (in accordance with LV 312) can be achieved, depending on which material is used.

Media resistance and compatibility

Apart from the mechanical protection they provide, adhesive tapes improve the resistance of cable assemblies to liquids such as engine oil, other operating materials and chemicals. Moreover, Coroplast manufactures adhesive tapes with acrylate adhesive that are compatible with a great many cable materials.

Vibration Protection

To minimise clattering noises made by cable assemblies, Coroplast has the widest range of adhesive tapes, beginning from noise class C (in accordance with LV 312). The use of PET non-woven adhesive tapes, PA velour, PE foams, PUR foams and EPDM foams is an effective way of minimising clattering noises – such as in vehicle doors.

Heat protection

Coroplast heat-reflecting adhesive tapes can reduce the temperature in a cable assembly by up to 60%. Particularly if a relatively short section of a cable assembly is exposed to high temperatures, selective heat control is a good solution, as it obviates the need for insulation material designed to withstand higher temperatures within the affected cable assembly and therefore cuts costs.

Mechanical protection
