90 years Coroplast

The traditional family company Coroplast is looking back on nine decades full of innovative ideas and an impressive performance curve. Started in 1928 as a local manufacturer of materials for electrical insulation, today Coroplast has arrived in the Champions League of German engineering. Especially since Natalie Mekelburger has been elected “EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017”, the company has surpassed its status as a “Hidden Champion”.

Despite its worldwide success and increasing internationalisation, Coroplast remains true to its roots and invests in its location in Wuppertal – not only with respect to administration, but also production. However, to meet the individual needs of international markets, the company today employs approximately 6,000 people at eleven business sites worldwide. In its anniversary year, as well, Coroplast stays on its path of innovation and growth.

“Made in Germany” – not just a lip service

Starting point for the successful company history was the foundation in February 2018 by the young entrepreneur Fritz Müller. Natalie Mekelburger, who today runs the international company group in third generation as Chairwoman of the Board of Management, sees entrepreneurship and pioneering spirit as the sources of success: “Looking towards the future, we want to keep pushing forward our technological progress – based on innovative spirit, high investment and the courage to think differently.”

For this means, Coroplast not only invests at its headquarters in Wuppertal, but at its locations worldwide: the productions sites in the USA, Mexico and Poland have been expanded recently, while a completely new location has been established in Moldova.

Anniversary activities throughout the year with a ceremonial kick-off

“We can look back proudly on an impressive development of our company. We owe this, above all, to our employees”, summarises Natalie Mekelburger. “This is why we want to celebrate the success of the past decades together with our employees – with diverse anniversary activities over the whole year.”

Kick-off was a great employee event in a festive setting on 19 February 2018 at the headquarters in Wuppertal – including a ceremonial speech of the CEO which was broadcast via livestream at all international business sites, anniversary cake and Domino course for which amazing 32,000 dominos were arranged to show a global map with all Coroplast locations. The diverse events for employees, many of which can also be attended by friends and family members, include workshops and factory tours which offer insights into different working areas at Coroplast, as well as innovation events like an e-mobility day and numerous sports, cultural, musical or culinary highlights.
