Hemanthkumar Ramkumar, aged 26, emigrated from India to Germany 5 years ago to study for a Master’s degree in Production Technology at RWTH Aachen University. He joined Coroplast as a Trainee Global Quality Management in 2018 and has already seen quite a bit of the world in his new role: “I’ve had several trips to Tunisia and I’ve also been to China on Coroplast’s behalf. What form did your recruitment process take?

I received a reply to my application very promptly and was invited to an interview soon after. It took place in a relaxed atmosphere and only a few days later I was accepted for a traineeship. Following a brief, but very friendly, conversation with my future boss, I was presented with a contract to sign.

What made you choose this particular job?

I wanted to gain experience in quality management for an automotive supplier and the job profile was exactly what I was looking for, of course. I’d also started to become familiar with quality management in connection with my research project and my dissertation.

How would you describe your typical working day?

There are obviously some tasks that have to be dealt with every month at the same time, but otherwise every day is different.

„I like it because it’s so diverse. The business trips give me insights into an assortment of cultures and mentalities.“

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I like it because it’s so diverse. The business trips give me insights into an assortment of cultures and mentalities. I’m forever facing new challenges to which I have to find a solution together with my colleagues in various combinations.

What challenges does your job present?

I constantly have to react to changing situations and circumstances. You need a certain talent for organisation, an ability to adapt and an aptitude for logical thinking. As a quality specialist, I’m always searching for the one-hundred-percent solution because I have to prepare audit findings, statistics or complaints, for instance.

How would you characterise your team?

I was given a very warm welcome by my team on my first day at work. Whenever I needed more background on issues that had arisen before I arrived, everyone was highly supportive. They all took the time to explain everything to me in detail.

Why is your employer right for you?

Coroplast is right for me because there are so many opportunities to learn something new and I know the tasks assigned to me will be interesting. There’s also a very friendly atmosphere at Coroplast; the company does a lot for the people who work here, like all the events that were organised to mark the anniversary.
